TECH and GADGETS: Soul Calibur 5 (Soul Calibur V)

With a release date scheduled tomorrow on US, the day after tomorrow in Japan, and the day after the day after tomorrow on Europe, the Soul Calibur series in returning again to invade the gaming market with their latest installment, Soul Calibur V.

Plot

The game takes place during the 17th century, 17 years after the events of Soulcalibur IV, with Nightmare's death by the hands of Siegfried. The main protagonist is Patroklos and the deuteragonist is Pyrrha, son and daughter of Sophitia and Rothion Alexander and nephew and niece of Cassandra Alexandra.

Although no official storyline for the game has been released so far, Patroklos' storyline says that Pyrrha and Patroklos haven't had an easy childhood as their mother, Sophitia, was killed by a "malfested" and their father died an untimely death from a disease. Pyrrha was abducted at a young age and remembers nothing of her childhood, including her family ties. Her brother Patroklos, on the other hand, was raised by himself and is now searching his older sister. He also searches and destroys the malfested.

The gameplay and game modes seems to be the same as the last Soul Calibur installment, but what makes the game new are the new set of playable characters. Of course few of the old ones left already, including my TALIM which is in fact from the Village of the Wind Deity or in present day, the Philippines. I have loved her ever since for being a Filipina game character. Though some left, more are formed to be a playable character in the game. Here are the new characters.

Patroklos Alexander (Heir To The Title of Holy Warrior) - Son of Sophitia which is the main protagonist in the story.

Pyrrha Alexandra (She Who Fights Destiny)- Daughter of Sophitia and the sister of Patroklos, she is the deuteragonist in the story.

Elysium - an angelic woman who resembles the mother of the two characters above, Sophitia.

Leixia (A Young Lady Longing for an Adventure) - The daughter of Xianghua who uses almost the same style of fighting as her mother.

Natsu (Worthy Successor) - A disciple of a Soul series veteran, Taki.

Viola - an elegant and mysterious looking woman who bears a resemblance with Amy.

Xiba (Honest Young Man) - As the picture shows, he loves eating and he is a successor of Kilik.

Z.W.E.I. (A New Swordsman) - a dark and brooding man who uses a sword with three handles and can summon a werewolf-like creature called E.I.N.

After seeing the new character who wouldn't be excited to buy and play the game. Being a fan of the Soul series myself, I can't wait to play this new and another saga that will unfold soon - SOONER like its going to be released hours after I published this blog post. And just like what the game director tweeted, i'll say that "SC is back!"

ANIME and MANGA: Hunter X Hunter 333 - Rumbles

The latest chapter of Hunter X Hunter is already scanlated on Mangareader.

The title of the new chapter is 'Rumbles'. At first thought, I knew that the story will be complicated, and I guessed that right. The title itself explains how the election for the next chairman of Hunter Association become a fierce battle of ones intellect.

The story starts shortly after the end part of the last chapter - Hunter X Hunter 332: Applause. With only Pariston left to share his speech, the hunters inside the area are still wild after hearing Leorio's speech. In the midst of the loud noise, Pariston made the crowd silent after telling that he also want Gon to recover. Then to rumble up the election, he announces that the election should get a bit more serious and to consider each of the candidates profile, Mizaistom is the most fit to be the new leader. As usual, Cheadle thinks deeply on what Pariston is saying. Though she is seen struggled and confused, she managed to still think the odds and ratio of the election. As a crime hunter, Mizaistom also sensed what Cheadle was thinking about. Though it was just an intuition, he declared that Pariston is a man from the dark side of the society that even Chairman Netero can't bring down.

The scene continues when Alluka agreed to Killua to heal Gon. Alluka then started to touch Gon's hand. Killua was shocked to see Gon's hand to appear thin as an old weak wood. Then Alluka's power was just incredibly enormous that even the Zoldyck family felt it from afar. Due to the large amount of power, Illumi seems to be obsessed again to have Alluka. On the election room, the hunter's also felt the unmeasurable power and left them still.

The 8th election for the 13th Chairman was done, and this time Leorio takes the lead with only  44.4% of votes on his side. Cheadle said the Pariston is finished, while the latter said that he feels the election is pretty much over. While conversing to Leorio, Pariston asked Leorio the same question asked to the candidates before "What you're going to do if you become the chairman?".

Having that king of ending, I'm guessing that Pariston is expecting Leorio to say again that he wants to make the Association his private property and to think of it, Pariston is kinda having the same idea/track though in the darker side. BTW, follow the link below to see the whole chapter :))

NEWS and SOCIAL NET/ART and STYLE: OLFU - Valenzuela Celebrates Chinese New Year

The celebration is one day late but still, Our Lady of Fatima University, Valenzuela City Campus held an event for the yearly Chinese New Year. Lead by the College of Nursing, the event features a bright and cheerful atmosphere within the campus' Quadrangle.

My day started off when I reached the school late and that I didn't see how the program began. When I got there, everyone's waiting for the Dragon dance to start. Its been quite a while when the dance started due to some i-dont-know-what-happened reason. I was still able to record the dance in the midst of the crowd. *Warning: The Video is like a roller coaster ride (lol)

Booths were created featuring some of the Chinese tradition that we usually encounter. The booths are as follow: Photo booth, Food and Beverage booths - sells sugarcane juice, dimsums and tikoy (a Chinese rice cake), Wedding booth - invites student couples to experience a traditional Chinese wedding, Lucky Charms booth, Fortune Telling booth, Educational booth - teaches students basic Mandarin, and Poster Exhibit. 

I got the chance to take photos of some posters made by my co-Nursing students which cost me only 10 pesos (rofl)

Another highlight of the event is the Wushu exhibition by selected Nursing students. This is when the crowd started to be wilder as they cheer for their own section's representative and their friends. I also managed to get a bit closer to the center of the quadrangle to watch and record the exhibition. BTW, the whole Section 6 is proud for our representatives - Jean Cabungan and Jeremiah Bantigue (the soloist on nunchaku). See their performance below.

I went out of the school early waiting for my classmates to arrive so that we can look around the booths together, but duties are just another conflict in our lives. In the end, after reading posts from the others who made this event work, it was really an awesome day for all of us. Congratulations to everyone!

NEWS and SOCIAL NET / SONGS and MUSIC: Steven Tyler's Anthem Rendition

Steven Tyler's rock version of the American's National Anthem causes a stir now as the video goes viral on Youtube having more than 1.6 million views after being upload on January 22, 2012.

The idol judge was critiqued by Associated Press saying that his performance wouldn't make him go to Hollywood himself. Yahoo! Sports even said that, 'Steven Tyler's scarf better than 'Star-Spangled Banner' rendition. As you can hear from the video crowds were cheering or booing or i-don't-know-what-they're-screaming-for.

Youtube people we're arguing over Steven's song. Mixed comments were posted but I see a lot of positive reactions from users. I also find the song nice for a rocker guy singing his own National Anthem!! Let's just leave him alone and let him feel his passion for rock music :) Here are some of the Youtube post.

ANIME and MANGA: Hunter X Hunter 332 - Applause

The latest chapter of the Hunter X Hunter manga has been released last Friday with the title "Applause.

The chapter starts off after the ending of the previous chapter which is all about X-day. On Chapter 331 Ging (the father on Gon) explained to Cheadle - one of Ging colleague in the Zodiac - the real objective of Pariston for running as the president of the Hunter Association.

This chapter is pretty interesting that I can't imagine what Yoshihiro Togashi is writing next. After seeing Cheadle realize what could be the best strategy to win the election, I already felt my heart beating fast as the real climax is coming. Her and Mizaistom's votes will be put on to Leorio's shoulder after the speech that Cheadle made. Leorio, being the free-willed friend of Gon delivered a not so selfish speech telling every Hunter in the hall that if he won, he will make the association his private property and command every hunter to make Gon recover from his unkown condition The hunters, impressed by his speech, cheered for him. During these times, I'm not sure if Pariston's reaction shows that he's troubled or just intrigued. Meanwhile, on the isolated hospital for Gon, Alluka just woke up and was asked by Killua to heal Gon. As the chapter ends, Alluka agreed to Killua and a catchphrase was written and says 'the time finally comes'.

Mizaistom sacrifices himself and asks his fellow Hunters to vote for Cheadle. When she went in front, Cheadle only wanted the other Hunters to vote for Leorio which surprised most of them. Meanwhile, Leorio is too preoccupied with thinking about his speech. Piyon already called him but he was not paying attention. Leorio started his speech with acting immediately in curing Gon. He states that when Leorio was doing nothing but drinking or studying, Gon was fighting with the ex-chairman Netero.Finally, Alluka wakes and finds himself inside Gon's room. Killua explains Gon's situation but Alluka disapproves, as he doesn't want to turn into "it" again and leave Killua. He assures Alluka that they will always be togerther, just like he promised. From someplace else, Illumi thinks of a way about the situation and defines Alluka's ability as an unbelievably strong tool if tamed.Back to Leorio, he begs the Hunters that if anyone knows how to save Gon, tell him. With this, Cheadle figured out that the reason that Ging did not dodge Leorio's attack on him before was because he saw potential for Leorio to become a good chairman as long as he is given their support, which led her the decision to hand her votes to Leorio and not let Pariston have his way. The audience applaused for a very good speech, which also surprised Leorio. Pariston then makes his way in front, but Cheadle knows for sure that Pariston will not win no matter what he say.Killua asks "it" to turn Gon back to normal, to which "it" agrees.

HEALTH and LIFESTYLE: Obsessive Compulsive Behavior

Off with the stuffs in my head and on with the topic that is SO obvious in my blog. The title itself implies something about myself which refers to my obsessiveness and compulsiveness. Yes, you heard it right OC and I'm going to tell you something about that kind of behavior.

In Psychiatric Nursing, the behavior is under the Cluster C of Personality Disorders, thus, it was termed as Obsessive-Compulsive Personality behavior. Let's define first what OC is:

• Obsessive Compulsive personality disorder is similar to obsessive-compulsive anxiety disorder. People with this disorder are overly focused on orderliness and perfection. Their need to do everything "right" often interferes with their productivity. They tend to get caught up in the details and miss the bigger picture. They set unreasonable high standards for themselves and others, and tend to be very critical of others when they do not live up to these high standards. They avoid working in teams, believing others would be too careless or incompetent. They avoid making decisions because they fear making mistakes and are rarely generous with their time and money. They often have difficulty expressing emotion (Cortez, 2010).

People with this disorder are "PERFECTIONIST" indeed.

My professors and reviewers often use mnemonics as their style for teaching to make students remember the lessons easily. For the characteristics of the behavior they've used "FIRM LAWS" as the mnemonic.

• F: Friendship and leisure activities excluded due to preoccupation on work.
• I: Inflexible, scrupulous, over conscientious on ethics and values.
• R: Reluctant to delegate - unless they submit to exact guidelines.
• M: Misery towards self and others.
• L: Loses point of activity due to preoccupation of details
• A: Ability to compare task (Compromised by perfectionism)
• W: Worthless object (Unable to discard)
• S: Stubbornness and rigidity.

I quite agree to the fact that I'm QUITE stubborn (lol) but not on having a personality disorder, that's why I termed it myself to behavior. Not that I'm protecting nor defending myself, but after seeing the symptoms, I realized that my behavior can't be considered as a disorder yet (I'm a natural born psychologist/psychiatrist, jk) Unlike the people with OCD, I use to wash my hands ONLY when I came in contact with something I assume to be dirty. For example, last night when I'm on my way home from church a lady with two children rode the same jeep that I'm riding. It was so hard for her to get on the vehicle for she was carrying two children. Because I'm kind in nature, I helped her older child to get up on the jeepney. When they're already seated I've realized that the child that I've helped is not so clean. And so, from there till I got home I never touched anything even myself. Then rushed into the restroom to wash my hands :)


Another thing is that I'm so into making some things in symmetry. For instance, I want my shoes, sandals or slippers to be in line perfectly together. Like when I'm going off to bed, I want my slippers to be in place properly in line together. The same thing goes for my shoes when I just got home and when I'm leaving my slippers off the shower room. What makes this behavior bad for me is that I want everything to be in place aside from my clothes. I'm not so critical in arranging them unlike my mother who wants our clothes properly folded and sorted together. You think I inherited that from her, right? I think so too. My mom wants everything clean, as in literally. She don't want to see even a tiny spot on the floor, on EVERYTHING. We grew up in her standards, that is why I think me and my brothers inherited some from her.


Aside from my lining my shoes and slippers together, I find my compulsiveness to the extreme when I want everything to be equal. Like when I tapped my right foot, I should do the same to the other, and take note it should be in the right intensity. I noticed that when I'm not satisfied that they're equal, I will do it again and again not noticing everything around me.I'm not denying it because I also find myself being troubled by this. 


Due to knowing how to manage these behavior, I've learned to limit myself from these. I think I made some improvement that from frequently tapping myself to make them equal, now I'm rarely doing it (but sometimes it still happens a lot). I still want everything to be clean though. But with all of these, I've realized that I can learn to limit myself but I cannot remove my obsessions + compulsion.

Hello! and Welcome! to my page

Since I'm just starting out with this new blog, my first post is all about how will you and I see this blog in the next days, weeks, month - in short, FUTURE.


Before anything else, I want to share to you my vision for this blog. This page will contain posts not just about myself or my experiences but it will also serve as as page for features about different stuff that I want to share. Basically the header of this blog explains what certain things that will be posted here.

• First off, I will share things about TECH and GADGETS. This tag will include features of new gadgets, trends about technology, and my own personal encounters regarding the said topic. Tutorials - about game strategies, software installing, and how-to-guides - will also be in this part.

• The next thing that I want to share is all about the NEWS and SOCIAL NET. Posts included here will show anything that goes around the real world and the world of internet - whether it is a news from some social net sites and even the most common Hooya! site - that catches my attention. Of course, my personal view about the news will be shared as well (EARLY WARNING: Don't hate me if I posted something that opposes your own thought, I have my brain which construct my opinions, which means I am just a medium for my brain :p)

• Third topic that I would like to share is all about ART and STYLE. As the name implies, this will be about ART and STYLE (did I just repeat those?! haha). Artists and artworks will be featured here showing my personal pick on their works :)) And of course, my own sweat releasing work of art will definitely be shown here.

• The fourth one will be about SONGS and MUSIC. This topic will showcase Singer and Recording Artist that made a stellar music scene in my head. Old and New songs will also be posted here PLUS! I can also record a song for you by request. Haha Just kidding! Music Shows and Talent Search is also included in this topic.

• Lastly, I will be featuring things about HEALTH and LIFESTYLE. As a student in medical field, I feel that I should share something about my expertise. The most common health questions will be posted here as well as some of my previously learned lectures for others to use it as a not so credible reference (rofl). New trends about health, wellness, food and medicine will definitely be included here.

About the the credibility issue, I will assure you that as far as I can, I will cite every source that I will be using on this blog. For my opinions, I believe that I don't need to address myself as my own reference :)) And now that I have already shared to you my plans, this will be the end for today :D Till then~
